Seit
25 Jahren ist AL JONES in Deutschland und in Europa das Maß aller
Dinge, wenn es um R&B geht. Mit allen Großen hat die Al JONES & Band
zusammengearbeitet: B.B.King, Johnny Winter, Champion Jack Dupree, Willie
Mabon, Tommy Tucker, Louisiana Red. Konzerte, Tourneen und Festivals. Die
amerikanische Fachzeitung `Livinī Blues` hat AL JONES und seiner
Band schon vor Jahren bestätigt,
dass es außerhalb der Vereinigten Staaten nichts Vergleichbares gibt.
Al Jones ist unbestritten ein Top Act in Sachen R&B.
Wobei sich der Bandleader zunehmend scheut, seine Musik über Begriffe zu
definieren. "Es gibt zu viele Missverständnisse", sagt er. Zu viele Missverständnisse
um Begriffe wie `Blues` beispielsweise. Um das Wesen der zwölf Takte und
drei Akkorde. Al Jones: "Es geht natürlich nicht um Takte und Akkorde. Es
geht wie immer in der Musik, um Qualitäten, für die es keine Worte
gibt." Der Groove der Band, der eine Ton, der dich bis ins Mark trifft, die Textzeile,
die alles erklärt, was du schon immer sagen wolltest... Sicher ist, dass
es im Grunde keine Rolle spielt, ob man das Kind beim rechten Namen nennt.
Al JONES nennt es R&B,
er nennt es auch Blues, weil seine Wurzeln, die ersten Impulse in dieser Musik
liegen. Weil das seiner Musik zugrunde liegende Gefühl Blues ist. Das hindert
ihn aber nicht daran, sich immer wieder und immer mehr von seinen Vorbildern
und den Erwartungen in seine Musik zu lösen. Das hindert ihn nicht daran,
neues, überraschend
anderes Material zu schreiben und neue Einflüsse mit alten Erfahrungen zu
mischen. Nervös, druckvoll, wuchtig. Die Zeit ist reif für den ROUGH

25 years, AL JONES has been the standard against which everything about
R&B
in Germany and throughout Europe is measured. AL JONES and his band have
worked with almost every famous R&B personality: B.B.King, Johnny
Winter, Champion Jack Dupree, Willie Marbon, Tommy Tucker, Louisiana Red
and others on concerts, tours and festivals. As stated in the American
music journal `Livin´ Blues`
"There is nothing outside the U.S. that can compare
with AL JONES and his band". AL JONES is the undefeatable top act
in the R&B genre.
These days, bandleader
AL JONES is more and more reluctant to classify his music with limiting
definitions:`There are too many misunderstandings` he says. Too many misunderstandings
concerning definitions like `Blues` and the essence of the twelve
bars and three chords.´ `It´s not all about bars and chords.
The point is as it is all the time in music, it´s about quality, and
for that there is no way for words to describe it´, states AL JONES.`
The groove of the band, the specific tone that hits you to the marrow, the
text line that explains everything you wanted to say all the time … Fundamentally
the name you call the baby is not important: AL JONES calls it
R&B. He also calls
it Blues because the roots and influences in this music and the feeling
that lies behind his music are directly tied to Blues. That doesn´t
keep him being inspired by his idols and the expectations for
his music. That doesn´t
stop him from writing other innovative and surprising material and from
combining new influences with old experiences. Excitable, powerful, impulsive. It´s
time for the ROUGH MIX of the new AL JONES BAND.
